An important update has been shared regarding Rosie, the preserved great white shark who was abandoned for years inside a closed Australian theme park. Rosie became widely known after photos and videos of her decaying tank surfaced online, sparking concern and renewed interest in her unusual story.

Rosie died in 1997 after becoming trapped in tuna fishing nets off the Australian coast. Unable to free her, the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanize her. Her body was then placed in a freezer for potential educational use, and at one point, she even underwent an autopsy after rumors circulated about a missing person possibly being linked to the incident.

In 1998, Wildlife Wonderland expressed interest in displaying Rosie as a preserved exhibit. Reports stated that the park paid around AU $500,000 (£250,000) for her body, considering her a rare and valuable attraction. Soon after, Rosie was placed in a large glass tank filled with toxic formaldehyde to preserve her remains for visitors.

For years, she drew attention at the park, but in 2012, Wildlife Wonderland shut down due to regulatory issues. While the living animals were relocated to other facilities, Rosie was left behind, still suspended in her tank as the abandoned center slowly deteriorated around her. The once-popular exhibit became a haunting reminder of the closed theme park.

As time passed, the building fell into serious disrepair, and Rosie’s tank began to show signs of damage. Vandals eventually broke into the site, causing further harm to the structure and raising health and safety concerns because of the chemicals inside the tank. Photos of the neglected shark began spreading online, leading to calls for her preservation and protection.
